Yubing Hu is a Research Associate and Group Manager at the Biochemical Sensors Group (led by Dr. Ali K. Yetisen) in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. Her work focuses on developing advanced polymer materials and optical biosensors for wearable, implantable, and portable diagnostic devices. She holds a BSc from Zhejiang University (2016) and a PhD from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2020), specializing in fluorescent polymer materials for sensing and imaging.
Her research interests span biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, and clinical diagnostics, with particular emphasis on translating technologies into personalized healthcare solutions. Key projects include microneedle-based glucose monitoring devices and holographic sensing bandages for wound healing. Dr. Hu is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), and American Institute of Chemical Engineering (AIChE).
Notable achievements include the 2021 Dame Julia Higgins Engineering Postdoc Collaborative Research Fund for her work on microneedle-based wearables and recognition as a 2022 MIT Chem Eng Rising Star and 2023 Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) participant. She leads initiatives in cross-disciplinary collaborations between academia, industry, and clinical partners to accelerate healthcare innovation.
