Young A Jung is Professor of Korean Studies in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at George Mason University, specializing in transnational Korean cultural dynamics, modern literature, and media studies with emphasis on migration, motherhood, and pop culture reception.

Research Focus: Professor Jung's interdisciplinary work applies critical cultural theories to examine transnational family structures (particularly "kirogi" migrant families), global K-pop reception across religious and racial contexts, and motherhood representations in Korean media. Her scholarship bridges literary analysis, fan studies, and diaspora studies with attention to gender dynamics and cultural appropriation.
Publication Trends: Recent works (2021-2024) analyze transcultural fan adaptations of "Squid Game", K-pop's engagement with Muslim communities, and early Korean science fiction. Her research increasingly examines racial dynamics in global fandom while maintaining focus on transnational motherhood and place-making.
