Dr. Youn Henry is a Researcher at the University of Lausanne's Department of Ecology and Evolution, part of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine. Their work focuses on the ecology and evolution of insect species, particularly investigating how organisms adapt to environmental stressors such as thermal and nutritional challenges, and host-microbe interactions. Current research emphasizes the evolution of bacteria transitioning from free-living to host-associated lifestyles using Drosophila melanogaster as a model, and the adaptive potential of microbiota for hosts under environmental constraints.
Research techniques include controlled laboratory experiments and field studies, employing methods like stress tolerance phenotyping, fitness measurements, gene expression analysis (qPCR, RNA seq), microbiota analysis (metagenomics), and metabolomics (GC-MS). Funded by the NCCR microbiomes initiative, their work bridges evolutionary biology and microbial ecology.
Dr. Henry is affiliated with the Kawecki research group and can be reached at Youn.Henry@unil.ch in office 2107.2.
