Yoshiaki Horiguchi

Yoshiaki Horiguchi serves as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Music within Towson University's College of Fine Arts and Communication. An acclaimed double bassist praised by the Baltimore Sun for his "dazzling display of dexterity and panache," he performs across classical, hip-hop, swing, and contemporary genres with ensembles including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, National Chamber Winds, and award-winning Trio Jinx.

His educational background features a B.A. in Bass Performance and Music Education as a Linehan Artist Scholar at UMBC (where he won the 2011 concerto competition) and an M.M. in Bass Performance and Pedagogy as an Aegon USA scholar from The Peabody Institute. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at Peabody under distinguished pedagogues including Ed Malaga and Paul Johnson.

Horiguchi's research focuses on innovative double bass pedagogy and cross-genre performance techniques, with his educational arrangements performed globally. His scholarly contributions include presentations at the International Society of Bassists convention and mentorship at the National Music Festival.

His current DMA research explores the integration of classical technique with contemporary musical practices.
