Dr. Yolanda Sanchez Vicente is a Senior Lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department within the Faculty of Engineering and Environment at Northumbria University, where she has been employed since 2019. Her academic journey includes significant research positions at Imperial College London as a Research Fellow in the Chemical Engineering Department, a fellowship at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and postdoctoral work at the University of Nottingham.
Her research interests span thermodynamic properties measurement and modeling, sustainable processes using supercritical fluids, and novel materials synthesis. She specializes in carbon capture and storage technologies, supercritical extraction of natural products, and development of functionalized materials for adsorption applications.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on thermophysical properties of fluid mixtures, particularly CO2-based systems, and the development of advanced polymer nanocomposites with tailored electrical properties. Her work bridges fundamental thermodynamics with practical applications in energy storage and materials science.
Dr. Sanchez Vicente actively supervises PhD students working on cutting-edge research projects related to carbon materials for hydrogen storage and polymer nanocomposites. Her research demonstrates strong interdisciplinary connections between mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, and materials science.
