Yingye Zheng

Dr. Yingye Zheng is a Professor in the Biostatistics Program within the Public Health Sciences Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and an Affiliate Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine. She serves as the Contact Principal Investigator for the Early Detection Research Network (EDRN) Data Management and Coordinating Center and is a Member of the Translational Data Science Integrated Research Center (TDS IRC) at Fred Hutch.

Dr. Zheng earned her PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Washington in 2002, following an MS in Biostatistics (1999), an MA in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis (1997), and a BS in Psychology from Peking University (1992).

Her research focuses on developing novel statistical tools for medical decision-making related to disease screening, diagnosis, prognosis, and outcome prediction. Dr. Zheng specializes in evaluating the clinical utility of biomarkers and risk models with censored time-to-event outcomes, dynamic risk prediction using longitudinal biomarkers, and evaluating cancer screening processes using electronic medical records. Her work is deeply integrated with national research networks including the EDRN and PROSPR (Population-Based Research Optimizing Screening through Personalized Regimens).

Dr. Zheng's extensive publication record demonstrates leadership in statistical methodology for cancer biomarker research, particularly in prostate cancer active surveillance, liquid biopsy technologies, and cancer screening trial design. Her recent work has focused on improving randomized cancer screening trials, polygenic risk scores, and novel approaches to biomarker validation with time-to-event outcomes.

As Director of COMPASS (Coordinating Multiple Projects in Applied Statistical Science), Dr. Zheng leads multi-center studies in public health research, providing statistical methodology, data management, and study coordination for several large-scale research networks. Her Zheng Lab develops statistical software packages for biomarker validation and risk prediction, including R packages like survAccuracyMeasures, partlyconditional, and longsurvAccuracyMeasures.
