Dr. Yingye Zheng is an Affiliate Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Washington and Professor in the Biostatistics Program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's Public Health Sciences Division. She leads the Zheng Group, focusing on developing statistical tools for medical decision-making in disease screening, diagnosis, and prognosis. Her work emphasizes biomarker evaluation, dynamic risk prediction using longitudinal data, and improving cancer screening processes. Dr. Zheng holds an BS in Psychology from Peking University (1992), MA in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis (1997), and MS/PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Washington (1999/2002).
- Education:
- PhD, Biostatistics, University of Washington, 2002
- MS, Biostatistics, University of Washington, 1999
- MA, Psychology, Washington University in St. Louis, 1997
- BS, Psychology, Peking University, 1992
Her research includes evaluating biomarkers for censored time-to-event outcomes, dynamic disease surveillance with longitudinal molecular signals, and optimizing cancer screening via electronic health records. She co-leads the PROSPR II consortium to reduce screening errors and collaborates with the EDRN network for biomarker validation. Dr. Zheng has developed R packages for survival analysis and longitudinal biomarker studies, including survAccuracyMeasures and partlyconditional.
Key achievements include $7.5M NCI grants for cancer screening coordination centers and recognition as a 2021 ASA Fellow. She also directs the Translational Data Science Integrated Research Center at Fred Hutch.
