Ying Fang

Ying Fang is a Professor in the Department of Pathobiology at the University of Illinois. Her research focuses on viral immunology, vaccine development, and innovative diagnostic technologies. She has collaborated internationally on studies involving porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), influenza A virus, and nanoparticle-based diagnostics.

Key research interests include viral pathogenesis mechanisms, maternal immunity in swine, and the application of photonic crystal technologies for molecular diagnostics. Her work bridges veterinary medicine and biomedical engineering through interdisciplinary collaborations.

Recent publications highlight advancements in concurrent PRRSV vaccination strategies, influenza virus-microbiome interactions in neonatal piglets, and deep learning-enhanced nanoparticle quantification. She has pioneered a photonic crystal microscopy technique for high-resolution diagnostics.
