معرفی
Jamie Henningson (also known as Jamie Retallick) is a Professor and Director of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine within the Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology. She holds a BS (2002) and DVM (2004) from Kansas State University and a PhD (2008) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.
Her research focuses on veterinary pathology, particularly in cancer research and infectious diseases. She collaborates with K-State researchers to study the pathogenesis of various cancers, including prostate cancer in mouse models, using tissue examination and immunohistochemistry techniques. Her work also extensively covers viral diseases in swine and camelids, with particular emphasis on porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), influenza viruses, and bovine viral diarrhea virus. She has made significant contributions to understanding viral pathogenesis, host immune responses, and bacterial co-infections in these diseases.
Analysis of her publication record reveals a strong focus on viral pathogenesis in swine, with numerous studies examining highly pathogenic PRRSV strains, influenza virus infections, and vaccine development. Her work often incorporates advanced techniques including immunohistochemistry, cytokine analysis, and transcriptomics to understand disease mechanisms. A notable pattern in her research is the investigation of host-pathogen interactions and the immunological consequences of viral infections.
As Director of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, she oversees diagnostic pathology services including biopsy and necropsy evaluations for referring veterinarians and the KSU Veterinary Health Center. She also supervises the histology and immunohistochemistry laboratory, developing new diagnostic tests and techniques.
In addition to her research and diagnostic responsibilities, she teaches necropsy technique and gross tissue evaluation to fourth-year veterinary students. Her collaborative research projects have included studies on bovine viral diarrhea virus in cattle and alpacas, canine influenza virus, swine influenza virus, pH1N1 in swine, and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus.
