Yi Guan

Yi Guan is an Adjunct Professor and Part-Time Faculty member at the University of San Francisco, focusing on strategy-based instruction, educational technology, and adult education. She has presented her research at national and regional conferences including CATESOL and TESOL.

Her educational background includes:

• Ed.D. in International & Multicultural Education with a minor in Digital Media & Learning from the University of San Francisco (2014)
• M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of San Francisco (2009)
• B.E. in Business English from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Dalian, China (2007)

Dr. Guan’s research bridges Strategy-Based Instruction and Second Language Acquisition, emphasizing Teaching English as a Second Language, Bilingualism/Bilingual Education, and Digital Media & Learning. Her dissertation utilized mixed methods and a 3-phase research design to explore the impact of explicit listening strategy instruction on adult ESL students’ comprehension performance. With over 10 years of experience, she has worked with language learners across academic and community settings in China and the United States.
