Yeong Ran Kim is an Emory Korea Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow in Korean Studies at Emory University, affiliated with the Department of Russian and East Asian Languages and Cultures. Their research focuses on queer and trans activist aesthetics, performance theory, and transnational cultural studies, examining how these intersect with social justice movements in South Korea. They hold a Ph.D. in Theater Arts and Performance Studies from Brown University.

Kim’s current projects include a book manuscript, Queer Unmastery: A Cultural History of Performance, Digital Media, and Social Movements in South Korea, and a co-edited volume on decolonial practices in transpacific Korean art. Their work engages with queer feminist theory, globalization, and digital media’s role in identity formation.
