Dr. Thu's research centers on cellular responses to genome instability and cancer, specifically investigating SUMO-mediated post-translational modifications through molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry approaches. Her lab leverages Saccharomyces cerevisiae and human cancer cell lines to study: (1) biological significance of sumoylated proteins during genome instability, (2) regulation of sumoylation under genotoxic stress, and (3) ubiquitin ligase roles in proteasomal degradation of sumoylated proteins for genome stability maintenance.
