Dr Ye (Catherine) Cao is a Lecturer at King's College London's School of Education, Communication & Society, focusing on science education, educational policy, and social justice. She actively contributes to research and teaching while engaging in academic service as a peer-reviewer for BERA and ESERA conferences.

Her research examines how science capital theory can explain educational disparities in China, particularly in relation to policy interventions like the 'Double Reduction' initiative. She also investigates urban-rural divides, shadow education systems, and the impact of the pandemic on teacher retention and student engagement.
Recent publications highlight her focus on science engagement trends, policy critiques, and mixed-method analyses of educational inequality. She collaborates with the Centre for Research in Education in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (CRESTEM) and maintains an academic writing advisory role as a Key Opinion Leader on Xiaohongshu.
