Lucy Wood is a Lecturer in Chemistry Education at King’s College London’s School of Education, Communication & Society. She transitioned from an eight-year career in banking and finance to science education, specializing in teacher development and pedagogical strategies. She holds a Master’s in Science Education (2016) and a PhD (2022) from King’s, funded by the Rosalind Driver studentship. Her research focuses on teacher self-efficacy, practical science work, and curriculum implementation across primary and secondary education.
Research Interests: Lucy examines how teachers’ beliefs and capabilities influence pedagogical choices, particularly in science practical work and assessment. Her work explores the interplay between self-efficacy, curriculum demands, and classroom practice, with a focus on students aged 8–14.
Key Contributions: Managed a 2020 project developing primary science remote learning resources during the pandemic. Active in the Association for Science Education’s national primary committee and frequently presents at conferences. Affiliated with the Centre for Research in Education in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (CRESTEM).
