Dr. Yashodhan Purandare is a Research Fellow at Sheffield Hallam University's Department of Engineering and Mathematics, College of Business, Technology and Engineering. With a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, his research specializes in nanoscale coatings, surface engineering, and tribology. He develops advanced coatings for applications ranging from biomedical implants to corrosion-resistant industrial components.
His research interests include:
- Sputtering and HIPIMS for nanoscale multilayer coatings
- Tribo-corrosion mechanisms in extreme environments
- Surface analysis using electron microscopy and XRD
Publications focus on erosion-corrosion dynamics, thin-film photovoltaics, and medical alloy enhancements. Awards include the R.F. Bunshah Award for pioneering erosion-corrosion studies.
