Yael Inbar

Yael Inbar is a Lecturer and Head of the Animation Department at Sapir College. She leads the Gertrude Theater, a globally recognized puppetry and choreography company, winning top awards at Valencia and Cannes festivals. Her work bridges traditional storytelling with contemporary mediums like animation and installations. She initiated an animation documentary course addressing Israeli societal issues and collaborates internationally, including with Lodz Film School. Currently a visiting artist at UMD's Theater, Dance & Performance Studies and Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies.

Education: M.F.A. in Computer Animation (Bournemouth University, UK), Honors from Jerusalem School of Visual Theatre.

Research Focus: Storytelling evolution from oral traditions to digital non-linear forms. Specializes in animation films, choreography, and puppetry integration. Key projects include 'Loot' and 'Play Without Words'.

Collaborations: Annual international animation-literature collaborations with Lodz Film School. Merges puppetry with miniature spaces and video screenings in current projects.

Awards/Honors: Multiple festival prizes, grants for animation projects, and representation of Israel in Paris Season.
