Xuejun Jiang is a Professor at the Gerstner Sloan Kettering Graduate School and Weill Cornell Medical College, and a Member at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of programmed cell death and autophagy in cancer biology.
Research Interests: Dr. Jiang's laboratory investigates the molecular basis of apoptosis, ferroptosis, and autophagy, and their roles in human diseases, particularly cancer. His team studies cellular signaling and metabolic events that determine cell survival or death, aiming to translate these findings into novel therapeutic strategies. The lab employs a multidisciplinary toolkit including biochemistry, chemical biology, proteomics, molecular and cell biology, high-throughput screening, 3D microfluidic cell arrays, and mouse models.
Scientific Awards:
- Louis and Allston Boyer Young Investigator Award (2007)
- American Cancer Society Scholar (2007–2010)
- Catherine and Frederick Adler Chair for Junior Faculty (2006–2010)
- V Scholar (2004–2006)
- Alfred Bressler Scholar (2004–2007)
- Sigma Xi Award, UT Southwestern (1998)
- Robert A. Welch Pre-doctoral Fellowship (1995–1999)
Advising and Grants: Dr. Jiang leads an independent research laboratory at MSKCC and mentors graduate students through the Cell & Developmental Biology program. He has received sustained grant support from prestigious organizations including the American Cancer Society, the V Foundation, and the Alfred Bressler Foundation, reflecting the significance and innovation of his work.
Labs and Teams: Dr. Jiang established his independent laboratory at MSKCC in 2003. His lab is actively engaged in cutting-edge research on ferroptosis and autophagy in cancer, contributing to both fundamental understanding and therapeutic development.
