Xuefei Ren is Professor of Sociology and Global Urban Studies, specializing in comparative urban governance. Her research analyzes urban transformation in China, India, and Brazil through housing, infrastructure, and environmental governance lenses.
Current projects examine pandemic territorial responses and rust-belt cultural revitalization. Award-winning books include Governing the Urban in China and India (2020) exploring slum clearance and pollution control politics.
Research has been supported by ACLS, Mellon Foundation, and SSRC grants.
