Xinning Xiao is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at Monash University. She holds roles as Deputy Editor of Accounting and Finance and serves on editorial boards for Accounting Horizons, International Journal of Auditing, and Australian Accounting Review. Her research focuses on auditing, business ethics, sustainability, and whistleblowing, with publications in top journals including European Accounting Review and Journal of Business Ethics.
She earned her PhD from the Australian National University and is a Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) and Certified Practising Accountant (CPA Australia). Xiao has led multiple research projects funded by Monash University and AFAANZ, investigating topics like whistleblowing incentives, investor reactions to audit disclosures, and sustainability reporting credibility.
Her awards include the Monash Business School Education Heroes Award (2021) and CPA Australia Global Perspectives on Accounting Research Award (2016). She actively contributes to professional bodies such as the AAA Auditing Section Planning Committee and AFAANZ Auditing SIG.
