Xin Deng is a Lecturer in Innovation at the University of Manchester's department of IMP Innovation, Strategy and Sustainability. She holds a PhD in Industrial Economics from Nottingham University Business School and an MSc in International Business from Warwick Business School. Her research focuses on applied microeconomics, business innovation, intellectual property, and green innovation, with additional interests in corporate finance, linguistic complexity, and strategic management.

Key research areas include the impact of public procurement on SME innovation in the UK, ownership structures in exploratory innovation, and the role of technology standards in financial markets.
