Ximeng Fang is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation within Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. He collaborates with Stefania Innocenti (Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment) and Alan Morrison (Saïd Business School) on projects exploring edutainment and virtual reality for pro-environmental behavior. His PhD in Economics from the University of Bonn (with a master’s from Bonn and undergraduate degree in business from Mannheim) underpins his research in behavioral and environmental economics. His work employs randomized field experiments and quasi-experimental methods to study interventions for energy/water conservation via smart metering. Notable contributions include analyzing political polarization through in-person conversations and evaluating energy efficiency perceptions in housing markets. He has volunteered with disability and migrant communities, reflecting his commitment to societal impact.
Research interests focus on behavioral economics, environmental policy, and applied microeconomics. His projects often integrate behavioral science with sustainability challenges, such as climate action and pandemic responses. Methodologically, he emphasizes rigorous experimental designs and econometric techniques. Publications span journals like Journal of Public Economics and Social Science and Medicine, addressing topics from prosocial behavior in crises to complementarities in conservation interventions.
