Xiaochao Tang is Associate Professor and Chair of Civil Engineering at Widener University's School of Engineering. His research focuses on geotechnical and infrastructure engineering, particularly sustainable materials and transportation infrastructure.
Research interests include instrumentation and monitoring of transportation infrastructure, characterization of sustainable construction materials, and beneficial reuse of industrial byproducts. Current projects involve developing low-carbon cement alternatives using sewage sludge ash through EPA-funded research.
Tang serves on Transportation Research Board committees (AKG30, AKG40) and chairs subcommittee AKG30(1). His professional affiliations include the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Educational background includes a PhD from Pennsylvania State University, MS from West Virginia University, and BS from Central South University.
