Andrew Garrabrants is a Research Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt University. His research focuses on leaching tests, environmental impact assessment of solid wastes, and beneficial reuse of waste materials in construction. He leads the interlaboratory validation of the Leaching Environmental Assessment Framework (LEAF) in collaboration with international organizations and the U.S. EPA.
- Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Chemical & Biochemical Engineering from Rutgers University
Research interests include physiochemical models for risk assessment, leaching chemistry of cement-based materials, and long-term durability of engineered barriers for nuclear waste. He actively participates in ASTM International D-34 Committee as Vice Chair and leads task groups on waste leaching techniques. Currently serves on an ITRC expert panel for solidification/stabilization remediation guidelines.
Professional affiliations include American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and American Chemical Society.
