Xiaobao Li is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at Widener University. He holds a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from Texas A&M University (2006), previously served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston, and joined Widener in 2012. His research focuses on translating teachers' knowledge into classroom practice, with a focus on mathematics education. He has authored/co-authored 15 publications in top-tier journals such as Cognition and Instruction and the Journal of Mathematical Behavior.
His work has been recognized with the AERA Distinguished Paper Award and the Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Review of Educational Research. He actively participates in professional networks like the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and serves as a consultant for an NSF-funded grant on algebraic knowledge for teaching.
Dr. Li is affiliated with Widener’s programs in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Instructional Technology. His research emphasizes cognitive instructional principles, cross-cultural educational comparisons, and student conceptual errors in mathematics.
