Xavier Segura is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona, affiliated with the School of Government and Public Policy and the Law & Policy Faculty. A first-generation college graduate and proud alumnus, he focuses on education, mentorship, and equity. His teaching spans criminal justice administration, ethics, law, and special topics in law and underrepresented populations.
Research interests include systemic inequities related to race, gender, diversity, criminal justice ethics, and the legal system. He bridges academia, policy, and advocacy to address societal challenges. Professional roles include partnerships with law enforcement agencies, mentoring student veterans and Honors College students, and supervising theses. He is a Distinguished Writing Across Curricula Faculty Fellow and Hispanic Serving Institution Ambassador.
- Awards: 2022 Leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award; Honored by the City of Tucson and U.S. Army.
