Erika J. Brooke is an Associate Professor in Criminology at the University of Florida's Department of Sociology and Criminology & Law. She specializes in correctional policy, military service-crime relationships, and specialty courts. Her research examines diversion programs, veterans' experiences in the criminal justice system, and prison misconduct. She serves as an associate editor for the International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology and advises the Criminology and Law Honor Society. Alongside her academic role, she has served in the U.S. Army Reserve for over 16 years, receiving the Army Outstanding Junior Officer of the Year Award in 2022. Dr. Brooke teaches undergraduate courses in criminological theory, criminal justice systems, and research methods, emphasizing experiential learning. Her work often intersects military sociology, gender studies, and policy evaluation.
Her recent research focuses on veterans treatment courts, prison demographics of military veterans, and the impact of military service on criminal behavior.
