Xavier Groussot is a Professor at the Department of Law, Lund University, and serves as Pro Dean and Director of the Master Programme in European Business Law. He is also a guest professor at Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II) and the University of Reykjavik. His roles include Research Coordinator for EU Law and Researcher in Human Rights Law, alongside membership in the LU Profile Area: Human Rights.
He holds a PhD in Law (awarded the 2006 Oscar II Prize) and has led over 13 research projects, including studies on judicial independence and procedural federalism. His teaching focuses on EU Constitutional Law within the European Business Law Master’s Programme, where he also mentors moot court teams. He supervises eight PhD students across Lund and Uppsala Universities.
Research interests span constitutional law, economic law, procedural law, federalism, and digitalization’s impact on EU legal frameworks. He contributes to the EU Fundamental Rights Agency and is a member of the Nils Klim Prize Committee. Recent work emphasizes the rule of law in Europe, including projects like the Lund Human Rights Research Hub.
Notable awards include the 2010 Faculty Medal for research and education contributions. He actively collaborates with institutions like SIEPS and reviews for the Danish Research Fund.
