Sanja Bogojevic

Sanja Bogojević is a Professor of Law at the University of Oxford's Faculty of Law and a Fellow at Lady Margaret Hall. She holds dual roles as Associate Dean for Research (shared) and Director of the Course in Legal Research Methods (CLRM). Her academic background includes a DPhil from Oxford, an LLM from the Collège d’Europe, and prior positions at Lund University as Visiting Professor and former Associate Professor. Her research focuses on Environmental Law, EU Law, and Constitutional Law, particularly addressing market mechanisms in environmental governance, climate action, and the interplay between climate emergencies and democratic institutions.

Education: LLB from King’s College London and Passau Universität, LLM from Collège d’Europe, DPhil from Oxford. Visiting roles at institutions including NYU School of Law, Berkeley Law, and the Max Planck Institute for Collective Goods. Key publications include Emissions Trading Schemes: Market, States and Law (2013), awarded the 2016 Nils Klim Prize, and Great Debates in EU Law (2021).

Current projects include UKRI-funded research on greenhouse gas removal technologies and Hong Kong-funded studies on coal phase-out along the Belt and Road. She co-leads the Journal of Environmental Law, serves on Climate Strategies' Board, and investigates legal dimensions of critical minerals mining and just transition frameworks.
