Wouter Hulsbergen serves as an Endowed Professor in the Faculty of Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in (Astro)-Particles Physics. He maintains a dual affiliation with NIKHEF (National Institute for Subatomic Physics) in Amsterdam where he has been active since April 2008. His research is closely connected to the LHCb experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider.
His primary research interests focus on fundamental aspects of particle physics including Center of Mass Physics (100%), Detectors Physics (84%), Meson Physics (74%), CP Violation Physics (35%), Baryon Physics (31%), Collected Data Engineering (27%), Final State Engineering (18%), and Hadron Physics (18%). These research areas reflect his expertise in experimental high-energy physics, particularly in precision measurements of particle properties and rare decay processes.
His recent publications from 2025 demonstrate continued leadership in cutting-edge particle physics research, with significant contributions to understanding rare particle decays, CP symmetry violation, and precision measurements in B physics. His work frequently involves large international collaborations, particularly through the LHCb experiment.
Hulsbergen has supervised 6 PhD theses and maintains an active research program with 469 publications to his name. His work has received considerable attention, with several publications picked up by numerous news outlets and referenced across social media platforms.
