Wolf Tormann is a Continuing Adjunct Lecturer in Cello and a cellist in the Isabel Quartet at Queen’s University’s DAN School of Drama and Music, within the Faculty of Arts and Science. He serves as Principal Cellist of the Kingston Symphony Orchestra and frequently performs with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa. His career spans international orchestras, including the Frankfurt Radio Symphony and Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, where he held principal roles.
Education:
- M.Mus. from Musikhochschule, Frankfurt (with Prof. Gerhard Mantel)
- Advanced studies with Arto Noras at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki
- Indiana University (studied under Janos Starker)
Research & Performance: Specializes in cello performance, chamber music, and orchestral training. Renowned for his virtuosity, he has performed over 100 concerts annually across Europe, North America, and beyond. Notable accolades include praise from The Hamilton Spectator and Frankfurter Rundschau for his “spontaneous elegance” and “artistry.”
