William Rounds is a Teaching Professor and Artist Faculty in Cello at the Osher School of Music, part of the University of Southern Maine's College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. He is a professional cellist with affiliations to the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Portland Symphony Orchestra, and Boston Symphony. His career spans classical and popular music, including collaborations with artists like John Denver and Aerosmith, and film soundtrack contributions such as Schindler’s List.
Education: BM and MM in Performance from Boston University, studying under George Neikrug. He has performed internationally and is a former member of the Artaria Quartet. His teaching includes roles with the Boston Symphony’s education programs and masterclasses at U.S. colleges.
Research interests focus on cello performance, chamber music, and music education. No scientific awards are noted, but his artistic contributions are extensive. He maintains active roles in both classical and cross-genre musical projects.
