George Work is a Professor of Music at Iowa State University, specializing in cello performance and music education. He holds a BM and MM in Cello Performance from the Eastman School of Music (1979 and 1981 respectively), along with a performer’s certificate. He has been affiliated with Iowa State since 1981, serving as a faculty member and co-founder of the Ames Piano Quartet (later renamed the Amara Piano Quartet), which has released multiple acclaimed recordings. His career includes solo performances with orchestras in the U.S., Taiwan, and Russia, and he has held roles at the Brevard Music Center and the Schlern International Music Festival.
