William Minozzi is Professor of Political Science and Director of Research at the Institute for Democratic Engagement and Accountability (IDEA) at Ohio State University. His research examines legislative politics, deliberative democracy, political communication, and experimental methodology.
Minozzi's work includes experimental studies of political communication, historical analysis of Congressional behavior, and field experiments on public deliberation. Key research areas include campaign messaging, legislative responsiveness to party pressure, voter decision-making biases, and the impacts of deliberative forums on political attitudes.
His publications employ diverse methodologies including game theory, field experiments, machine learning, and historical analysis. Recent work investigates how campaign spending influences Congressional control, how communication formats shape information exchange, and how deliberation affects civic attitudes.
Research Leadership: As IDEA Director of Research, Minozzi oversees studies on democratic engagement, including large-scale field experiments with Members of Congress. He co-leads the Connecting Classrooms to Congress initiative funded by the Institute of Education Sciences.
Minozzi teaches courses on causal inference, legislative politics, and political methodology at graduate and undergraduate levels.
