William Lahey

William Lahey is the 25th President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of King’s College since 2016, holding a joint appointment as Professor of Law. He earned his BA from Mount Allison University, BA (Juris) from Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, and LLM from the University of Toronto. His career spans legal academia, public service, and environmental policy, focusing on administrative, environmental, and health law. As Deputy Minister, he pioneered Nova Scotia’s Environmental Goals Act and led major reviews in aquaculture and forestry. He chairs EfficiencyOne and serves on boards like Autism Nova Scotia. Awards include the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration (2019) and the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Medal (2022).
