William K. Sjostrom is a Professor of Law at the James E. Rogers College of Law, University of Arizona. He holds a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame (1996, magna cum laude) and a B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1991, high honors). His research focuses on business organizations, securities regulation, mergers & acquisitions, and contract drafting, with notable publications including foundational textbooks in these areas.
Prior to academia, he practiced law at Fredrikson & Byron P.A., served as Assistant General Counsel at Genmar Holdings, and worked in financial trading. He has held leadership roles in the Association of American Law Schools' Securities Regulation Section and contributed to Kentucky corporate law reform.
His scholarship addresses contemporary issues in corporate finance and regulatory frameworks, with recent work analyzing the AIG bailout and innovative equity capital mechanisms. Sjostrom's teaching emphasizes transactional law and practical contract drafting skills.
