معرفی
Wilhelmina Bergmann is a veterinary pathologist and Clinician at Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, within the Department of Biomolecular Health Sciences (Pathology). She serves at the Veterinary Pathology Diagnostic Center (VPDC) where she conducts diagnostic work, research, and teaching. Bergmann earned her veterinary degree from Utrecht University, completed a pathology residency in Switzerland, and obtained board certification from the European College of Veterinary Pathologists (2011) and Royal Netherlands Veterinary Association. She received her PhD in 2023 for research on equine cervical spine disorders.
Her primary research focuses on neuropathology and spinal disorders in animals, with particular expertise in:
- Equine intervertebral disc degeneration and osteochondrosis
- Comparative neuropathology and spinal imaging
- Diagnostic techniques in veterinary neurology
- Biochemical characterization of spinal tissues
Bergmann's extensive publication record demonstrates consistent focus on spinal pathology across species. Her recent work emphasizes advanced diagnostic imaging (CT/MRI), biochemical tissue analysis, and translational surgical models. Research trends show progression from descriptive pathology toward mechanistic studies of degeneration processes and diagnostic method validation.
Awards and certifications include:
- Diplomate, European College of Veterinary Pathologists (2011)
- Diplomate, Royal Netherlands Veterinary Association (KNMvD)
