Widar von Arx

Prof. Widar von Arx holds the position of Professor and Head of the Competence Center for Mobility at Lucerne School of Business (HSLU). His academic career includes doctoral studies in Corporate Transformation (University of St. Gallen) and a research fellowship at Oxford University. He has extensive professional experience in strategic consulting and public transport management, including roles at Müller Consulting & Partner and the Basler Verkehrsbetriebe (Board Member since 2018).

His research focuses on sustainable mobility, public transport policy, and tourism-related transportation. Key interests include tariff strategies, behavioral pricing, and the integration of new mobility solutions like e-bike sharing systems. Notable projects include evaluating public transport price reductions, analyzing tourist travel mode choices, and exploring the potential of autonomous vehicles in rural areas.

Awarded the 2020 HSLU Publication Prize for his work on Swiss tourism cooperation, von Arx has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and serves on editorial and review boards for transportation journals.
