Wentao Li

Wentao Li is a Senior Lecturer at the National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit (NPESU), Centre for Big Data Research in Health, University of New South Wales (UNSW), and an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at Monash University’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He holds an adjunct position at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and serves as an Associate Editor for Human Reproduction Open and Editorial Board Member for Fertility and Sterility. His expertise lies in clinical epidemiology, with a focus on randomized controlled trials, observational studies, and evidence synthesis, particularly using individual participant data approaches.

Wentao holds a PhD in Public Health and is an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow. His research addresses critical clinical questions in reproductive health, including infertility, preterm birth, PCOS, and endometriosis. He has led projects like ‘Improving the Evidence-Base underlying Tranexamic Acid for Preventing Postpartum Hemorrhage’ and ‘IVF versus OS-IUI for Unexplained Infertility.’

His scientific contributions include over 87 publications, focusing on maternal and reproductive health outcomes. Notable work includes systematic reviews on postpartum hemorrhage prevention and meta-analyses of infertility treatments. He advocates for rigorous research integrity through frameworks like the TRACT checklist and the Individual Participant Data Integrity Tool.

Wentao collaborates globally on trials and meta-analyses, addressing challenges in labor induction, preterm birth prevention, and evidence-based guidelines. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
