Prof. Weng Lu-Chung is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Sam Houston State University and a Senior Non-Resident Research Fellow at the New Lines Institute. He is also the Founding Director of the Asia Pacific Peace Research Institute (APPRI). Dr. Weng earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas and has held faculty positions at Wesleyan University, SUNY Cortland, and the University of Texas at Dallas. Additionally, he serves as an International Research Fellow for Democracy Studies at Stellenbosch University and the Center for Southeast Asia Studies at National Chengchi University in Taiwan.
His research focuses on comparative politics, international relations, democracy, and foreign policy, with a regional emphasis on the U.S. and Asia-Pacific. Notable works include The Myth of War in the Taiwan Strait and Decoding Washington D.C. (published in Chinese), which analyze geopolitical conflicts and political strategies. He is an active political commentator, providing expert analysis on U.S.-China-Taiwan relations, elections, and political behavior in Asian nations through media platforms.
