معرفی
Wendy Noble is a Professor of Molecular Neurobiology at the University of Exeter, UK. Her research focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and tauopathies, through studies involving rodent models, transgenic rodent models, human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, and post-mortem human brain analysis.
- Education:
- BSc Hons. Anatomy (2.1), University of Edinburgh
- PhD, University College London
- PGCAP, King’s College London
Research Overview: Wendy’s work centers on understanding how abnormal tau protein deposits contribute to AD and other tauopathies, diseases characterized by progressive brain degeneration without effective treatments. Her laboratory utilizes advanced techniques including transgenic rodent models expressing mutant human tau, human cell models, and post-mortem brain tissue to investigate disease progression and molecular changes.
Scientific Awards & Grants:
- Alzheimer’s Society Fellowship (established UK-wide career development award)
- MRC New Investigator Award (2007)
Labs & Collaborations: Wendy’s research operates within the Clinical and Biomedical Sciences department at the University of Exeter, with affiliations to the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Exeter Biomedical Research Centre. Her team explores disease mechanisms through interdisciplinary approaches combining molecular biology, neuroscience, and clinical research.
