Stefania Policicchio

Stefania Policicchio is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Clinical and Biomedical Sciences department at the University of Exeter Medical School, where she investigates genomic regulation in rodent models of amyloid and tau neuropathology to identify novel pathways involved in Alzheimer's disease-associated neuropathology in the human brain as part of the Complex Disease Epigenomics Group.

Her educational qualifications include:

• BSc (1st class Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University of Calabria, Italy (2010-2013)
• MSc (Distinction) in Neuroscience from the University of Pavia, Italy (2013-2015)
• PhD in Medical Studies from the University of Exeter (2016-2020)

Her research integrates wet-lab and computational approaches to study DNA/RNA regulation mechanisms in psychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. With expertise in human genomics, epigenomics, flow cytometry, and long-read sequencing platforms (Nanopore, PacBio), she focuses on uncovering molecular underpinnings of Alzheimer's disease through rodent model studies, aiming to translate findings into clinical applications for complex brain disorders.

She actively contributes to the Complex Disease Epigenomics Group and previously operated sequencing platforms at the Exeter University Sequencing Service for 18 months during her post-PhD research assistant role.
