Wendy Mallette is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Oklahoma. Her research interrogates intersections of gender, sexuality, race, and animality within religious studies and Christian theology, with a focus on unsettling doctrines of sin and exploring negativity in queer studies. She earned her PhD and graduate certificate in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies from Yale University, preceded by an MAR from Yale Divinity School and a BA from Valparaiso University.
Her work has appeared in journals such as Women’s Studies Quarterly, Journal for the Study of Religion, and Feminist Theology. She teaches courses on queer religion, animals in art and religion, and introductory Christianity and religious studies. For 2024–25, she is also a WSRP Research Associate, advancing her project Lesbian Feminist Killjoys: Sin, Pessimism, and Queer Histories.
