Professor Wendy Loughlin is a faculty member at Griffith University, holding the position of Professor in the School of Environment and Science - Chemistry and Forensic Science. She currently serves as Deputy Chair of Academic Committee and has held leadership roles including Dean (Learning and Teaching) within Griffith Sciences. Her academic qualifications include a BSc (Hons) and PhD from the University of Sydney. She is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA) and Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (FRACI).
Her research focuses on organic chemical synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and forensic science, with a strong emphasis on drug discovery and analytical techniques. She has led numerous funded research projects, including investigations into glycogen phosphorylase inhibitors and illicit drug synthesis pathways. Her educational contributions include pioneering interactive online platforms for chemistry education and developing strategies to enhance student learning experiences in STEM fields.
Professor Loughlin’s awards include the 2022 VC’s Internationalisation Award and multiple teaching accolades from Griffith University. She has supervised over a dozen doctoral students, contributing to their research in areas like drug discovery, organic synthesis, and forensic chemistry.
