Joseph Hayes

Dr. Joseph Hayes is a Senior Lecturer in Computational Biology at the University of Central Lancashire's School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from University College Dublin and a PhD in Computational Chemistry from Trinity College Dublin. His academic roles include lecturing in chemistry, drug design, and research methods at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as supervising MSc/PhD students.

His research expertise centers on drug discovery with a focus on Alzheimer's disease, glioblastoma, medulloblastoma, and type 2 diabetes. His work employs multidisciplinary approaches, including computational modeling, synthetic chemistry, and enzymology to develop novel inhibitors targeting glycogen phosphorylase, CDK5, and other therapeutic targets.
