Associate Professor Wayne Reeve is affiliated with Murdoch University, holding a position in the School of Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences within the College of Environmental and Life Sciences. With over 30 years of expertise in molecular microbiology, he has isolated and curated over 5,000 microbial strains globally. He is a Fellow of the Society for Microbiology (FASM) and a Professional Member of the Australian Society for Microbiology (MASM). His affiliations include the Bioplastics Innovation Hub at Murdoch’s Food Futures Institute.
Education: BSc Hons and PhD in Molecular Microbiology from Murdoch University (Perth, Australia).
Research interests span microbiology, genomics, synthetic biology, and industrial microbiology, with a focus on microbial diversity and applications in agriculture and biotechnology. Recent work involves genome sequencing of extremophilic bacteria and plant-microbe symbiosis.
Scientific Awards: Recognized for contributions to microbiology via FASM and MASM memberships. His research has advanced understanding of microbial adaptation and symbiotic systems.
Advising & Grants: Supervises multiple PhD and Honours students. His grants and collaborations drive studies on microbial genomics and bioproduction.
