Ravi Tiwari is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at Murdoch University’s School of Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences, within the College of Environmental and Life Sciences. His research focuses on genome architecture and gene expression in agriculturally and environmentally significant microbes, with particular expertise in stress tolerance mechanisms, structural genomics, and genetic tool development. He holds a BSc from Meerut University (1978), MSc (1981), and PhD (1986) in Biochemistry/Microbiology from G B Pant University under Prof. Govind K Garg.
His awards include multiple Vice Chancellor’s Citations for Teaching Excellence (2005, 2013, 2014) and the Gold Medal for top BSc Biology marks at Meerut University (1978). His recent work spans genomic studies of halophilic microbes, ice-nucleation-active bacteria, and legume symbiosis, reflecting his broad expertise in microbial genomics and environmental biology.
- Research Highlights: Construction of genetic tools for gene regulation studies, mechanisms of lateral gene transfer, and structural genomics.
- Awards: Vice Chancellor’s Citations (2005, 2013, 2014), OLT Recognition (2014), and academic gold medal (1978).
His publications emphasize genomic sequencing of extremophiles, symbiotic bacteria, and crop-associated microbes, contributing to both fundamental and applied microbiology. Research trends include genomic adaptations to environmental stress and microbial contributions to sustainable agriculture.
