Dr. Wave Nunnally serves as Professor of Early Judaism and Christian Origins in the Department of Theology at Evangel University, where he has taught since 2002. With 28 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Nunnally brings deep expertise in Jewish backgrounds of the New Testament and early Christian origins to his teaching and research. He is also an adjunct professor at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary since 1993.

Specializing in Jewish backgrounds of the New Testament, Dr. Nunnally is a recognized expert in non-biblical Dead Sea Scrolls and early Jewish history. His research focuses on the intersection of early Judaism and Christian origins, with particular emphasis on how Jewish history, literature, geography, and archaeology inform our understanding of the Gospels and Acts. Fluent in Biblical, Rabbinic, and Modern Hebrew, Dr. Nunnally has lived, studied, and taught in Israel since 1982, bringing an authentic cultural perspective to his work. He regularly leads study trips to Israel, Jordan, and Egypt for students, church leaders, and church groups.
Dr. Nunnally has received significant recognition for his teaching excellence, including the prestigious E.M. and Estella Clark Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship, and Service (2015) and the Delta Alpha Distinguished Educator of the Assemblies of God Award (2017). Notably, he was the first non-Jew to serve as president of the Hebrew Union Graduate School Alumni Association, highlighting his respected standing in his field.
