Warren Barr is an Honorary Recognised Supervisor at the University of Liverpool's School of Law and Social Justice, with a career spanning over two decades in legal academia. He holds a LL.B (Hons) and LL.M(Th) from the University of Reading. Previously serving as Head of the Liverpool Law School (2017–2021) and Interim Dean (2021), he is now Head of the School of Law and Politics at Cardiff University. His research focuses on charity law, social housing, and property law, with significant contributions to understanding charities' roles in housing vulnerable populations and property-legal interfaces.
Education: LL.B (Hons) and LL.M(Th) from the University of Reading. Recognized as a Principal Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (2014) and recipient of the National Law Teacher of the Year 2006. He has authored/co-authored influential textbooks on Equity & Trusts and Land Law.
Research Interests: Charity law (especially property management), social housing policies for vulnerable groups, and property law's contractual boundaries. He leads the Charity Law and Policy Unit and chairs the Modern Studies in Property Law Subject Board.
Notable Grants: 'Housing the mentally vulnerable: the role of charities' (ESRC, 2003–2004). Awards include recognition for teaching excellence and leadership in legal education.
Professional Roles: Vice-Chair of the Committee of Heads of UK Law Schools, academic member of the Property Bar Association, and School Governor at St Christopher's Catholic Primary School.
