Wang Xiangdong is a distinguished academic and medical scientist affiliated with Fudan University. He serves as Chief of Scientists at Zhongshan Hospital, Shanghai Medical College (Fudan University), Director of the Shanghai Institute of Clinical Bioinformatics, and President of the China Society of Gene Technology. His roles also include Director of the Shanghai Engineering Research Centre for AI Technology for Cardiopulmonary Diseases and Deputy Director of the Shanghai Respiratory Research Institute.
Education: MD and MS from Harbin Medical University (1982–1993), PhD from Lund University (Sweden). He held leadership positions at AstraZeneca (1997–2006) and has been a University Distinguished Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine since 2007.
Research focuses on translational medicine, lung inflammation, oncology, and clinical bioinformatics. He has received multiple national and international awards for scientific contributions, including the Huaxia Award and recognition as an Outstanding Foreign Expert in China.
Leadership includes roles in clinical institutes, engineering research centers, and academic societies. His work bridges clinical practice with technological innovation, particularly in AI applications for cardiopulmonary diseases.
