Walter Ferrarese

Walter Ferrarese is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Born in Rome in 1987, he received his PhD in Economics from the University of Rome, Tor Vergata in 2018.

His primary research expertise spans Industrial Economics with particular focus on vertically structured markets and horizontal mergers, complemented by strong theoretical foundations in Game Theory and Microeconomic Theory. His scholarly contributions have appeared in prestigious journals including the Review of Industrial Organization, the BE Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy, and the International Journal of Economic Theory.

Dr. Ferrarese teaches across multiple degree programs at UIB, with core responsibilities in Games and Strategic Decisions and Information Economics courses for Economics and Tourism degrees. His teaching portfolio extends to Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, and supervision of final degree projects across Business Administration, Economics, Tourism, and Mathematics programs.

He is an active member of the Conflicto e Interacción Estratégica (CIE) research group, a consolidated R&D&I structure at UIB that focuses on strategic conflict and interaction. His academic trajectory shows consistent engagement with advanced economic theory applied to real-world market structures and strategic decision-making scenarios.
